For members of Daybreak Cohousing in Oregon, Rachel and Chris Damgen, cohousing made all the difference. “We would not have had a third child if we hadn't been here," Rachel shares, explaining how knowing neighbors were always there to lend a hand gave them the confidence to grow their family. Beyond just helping parents, cohousing creates deep intergenerational bonds. Older neighbors become like surrogate bubbies and zaydes, passing down family traditions, playing games with the kids, and forming meaningful connections that enrich everyone’s lives. 20 members of Berkeley Moshav rolled up their sleeves and came together at a Member’s home to make soup for our unhoused neighbors. In just one afternoon, the group prepared enough soup to feed 120 people through the Berkeley-based grassroots organization Consider the Homeless.
