DAN & LAURA

Dan and Laura are retired professionals who enjoy giving back to their community. Dan grew up dreaming of being either a teacher or the next Johnny Carson. He pursued a degree in Radio-TV-Film at Northwestern but soon found that education was his true calling. After starting as a teacher, he moved into school administration and ultimately served as president of a two-year postsecondary school. Now retired, Dan devotes much of his time to volunteering, from supporting immigrant families to feeding the unhoused and serving on the board of his synagogue.
Laura is a retired social worker and therapist, with degrees from Antioch College and the University of Pennsylvania. She enjoys traveling the world, reading, writing, cooking international foods, observing nature, and growing vegetables. Laura also spends her time volunteering, particularly with immigrant families and preparing meals for unhoused individuals.
Married for many years, Dan and Laura have four children and six grandchildren. They live in Berkeley, where they continue to engage with their community and share their passions for service and connection.
