JILL & PAULJill
Jill was born and raised in the middle of Manhattan, where she loved going to museums, Broadway shows, and the ballet. She was a very serious student of ballet for a number of years until she went to college. Jill and Paul met at the University of Wisconsin and have been together ever since. They have three daughters and two granddaughters and are thankful that they’re all on the West Coast. They hope to see them more often when they move to the Moshav and live close to the Oakland airport! Jill was a teacher of young children for many years at South Peninsula Hebrew Day School and later tutored reading. She also ran a Creative Arts Camp in Los Altos, where they raised their family. She has always loved reading, ballet, art, movies, and theatre. Jill and Paul have enjoyed traveling in Europe, Mexico, and Israel and hope to visit Alsace, where many of their ancestors lived. Genealogy became a passion when they retired and moved to Aptos, and she continues to enjoy doing research. Paul Paul was born in New Jersey but grew up in both Northern and Southern California. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, as an undergraduate and pursued graduate studies at UC Berkeley. He and Jill met in Madison, married young, and moved to Berkeley together for graduate school. At the height of the Vietnam War, he initially chose a teaching career to secure a deferment. A few years later, with two young children and extensive travels in Europe and North Africa behind them, Paul discovered his passion for early childhood education. This became the focus of his career—caring for and educating young children. He worked at a community college for over 30 years as a teacher, program coordinator, and instructor in a college lab school, campus child care, and an AA degree Child Development Program. |
