Kids in Cohousing

How can Jewish cohousing help children? Glad you asked!

Highlights from our Event: Kids in Urban Cohousing
In this online event, we explored the unique benefits of raising a family in an urban cohousing community. Our panel shared insights on how communal living fosters connection, support, and a sense of belonging for both kids and parents, even in the heart of a bustling city. Check out some highlight clips to learn more about how urban cohousing can create a thriving environment for families.

It takes a village
As the loneliness epidemic spreads, and hits teens particularly, the phrase “It takes a village to raise a child” is more true and urgent than ever. Loose connections through communal life are beneficial to all, but particularly for children.

Friends, right there
The idea of having a group of friends to play with in the same area is one that is part of American mythology and yet often seems to be dying away. Cohousing brings that myth back to reality. Children will have playmates in their very own unit, without the need for driving or planning.

Mentorship
Elders are just as essential as the youth in intentional communities. By creating space for people of all age groups and generations in our community to interact, we create the opportunity for mentorship and guidance within the village.
